Brevity takes time

"If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter." I've often heard this quote attributed to Mark Twain, but digging in it actually appears to have first been stated by Blaise Pascal.

“My dear Reverend Fathers, my letters did not use to follow each other so closely, nor did they use to be so extended. The little time that I have had has been the cause of both these things. I only made this letter longer because I had not the leisure to make it shorter.” — 16th letter

The point here is that it easy to write a bunch of stuff down and send it out into the world. It's much more work to labor over it, condense it down and just communicate what's really important.
