Tell them

"You made my day."

I received the above sentence in my personal email box yesterday that I rarely receive "personal" emails in anymore. I decided to send a thank you to this person to let them know I appreciate the effort they're putting in to a class they are teaching and they came away encourage to the point of this being a highlight of their day.

For whatever reason I believe we are far too lazy in offering written words of encouragement via any form of communication than we should be. The response back to my short email was proof that these can be huge in someone's day as long as they are true. Don't just try to inflate someone's ego. But, when you see something in someone that you value, let them know.
