What's in a name?

Ever wonder why the name? There's always a reason.

Never thought about this one until yesterday, but why is a combine called a combine? Well, prior to 1835 when it was first built and patented, the harvesting process was 3 steps–reaping, threshing, and winnowing. The invention of the combine "combined" those 3 steps into one machine that did them all together.

Next time you hear a name that you don't know the history behind, look it up. You might learn a little something you never knew.
