What is your family about? 2
Some further thinking on what I want our family to strive to be about...
We love others more than stuff.
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matt 6:19-21
We remember God's word. It is THE way.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105
We need help desperately. Help us receive it.
"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16
We obey, for our good and God's glory.
"Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people." 1 Timothy 3:1-2
We thank God for everything.
"Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:20
