We're learning

Our first week with no renters at our vacation home happened this week. Our renters backed out last minute because of the weather this week in Gulf Shores. They are supposed to get 12 inches of rain in a couple days. It took us a while to figure out how they were able to cancel the last minute though. Typically you're not able to cancel your booking within hours of when your rental starts, but evidently, if the weather makes you feel unsafe Airbnb will allow you to get a full refund and cancel your reservation.

We also decided we will not allow weddings anymore at our rental house. We had a wedding party at our place last week and between a few things we heard from our handyman and then complaints we got from one of our neighbors about a group of people going through their property and getting in a fight with them it sounds like no weddings would be a good idea.

Between these two incidents, there was a lot of back and forth between all of the partners in our property and my poor brother-in-law had to spend a ton of time on the phone and online over the last week dealing with people because of it all. Fortunately, this is the worst we've experienced so far.
