Dip checker

There are people that as part of their job they go and check people's new mattresses for "dips". I know because the guy came and checked my in-law's mattress. They have some kind of tool that helps measure the amount of dip that's caused by sleeping on a mattress and if it's over a certain number they will replace the mattress.

Unfortunately, there wasn't enough dip in my in-law's mattress to get it replaced. It sounds like it was a lousy customer experience as well because the person that came out to look at their mattress basically said he couldn't do anything about the fact that their mattress had compressed on one side more than the other unless it was another half inch.

But, my point is less about the customer experience and more about the fact that there are people that part of their job is to go around check the dip in a mattress and then tell a customer whether or not they can replace their new mattress. What a job! I can only imagine what the whole ordeal must have been like with that dip checker.
